Corridors/Solitude edited by Michael Lee

Founded in 2013, Corridors is a Berlin-based annual book series on art and culture. This issue was curated and edited by Singapore based artist Michael Lee around the theme of solitude. 24 authors, including luminaries such as John Berger and Friederich Nietzsche, ruminate on the qualities of solitude, loneliness, being alone, break-ups, autism and voluntary isolation.

The statement on the back of the book states:

“Solitude has always existed in society in different forms: living or working solo; the lone vacation; and isolation from society. This issue of Corridors brings together texts that examine the diversity and complexity of solitude through four themes; the solitude of isolation imposed by an authority of power; the solitude of the dreamer withdrawn from society as a form of rebellion; the solitude of difference associated with one’s sexuality; and the solitude of elements in the larger cosmos beyond humanity.”
