The cover of “Album” shows the author/artist holding a computer keyboard in the manner of a musical instrument, the title being a tongue-in-cheek reference to an actual LP (album), which along with the book’s square format, is akin to the author/artist releasing his own vinyl recording. The content of “Album” includes 17 concrete poems, which cross-references and free-associates along the lines of musical history, musical styles, and a wide variety of musicians; a section of 19 color photographs of 45rpms (from the author/artist’s collection) in the manner of “staged photography”; and finally, a prose poetry section that ruminates on the author/artist’s encounters with specific songs and playback technologies.
